Colm O’Donoghue gets plum ride on Cape Blanco in King George

• Jockey picks up mount because of stable jockey’s ban • Aidan O’Brien runner is 13-2 for Ascot showpiece Colm O’Donoghue has been booked to ride Cape Blanco in Saturday’s King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot, the trainer Aidan O’Brien revealed this evening. The mount on the Irish Derby winner became available after O’Brien’s stable jockey Johnny Murtagh picked up a six-day suspension at the Newmarket July meeting. Impressive in the Dante Stakes at York when beating the subsequent runaway Epsom Derby winner Workforce, Cape Blanco was unplaced in the French Derby before returning to form at the Curragh.
